NHS Choices bosses to check up on practice listings

By Steve Nowottny

The Information Centre is to write to every GP practice in England to check whether its listing on NHS Choices – including whether it offers extended opening hours – is correct.

The massive data-checking exercise, which is expected to take four weeks to complete, comes after bosses at NHS Choices admitted some practice details were currently incorrect or out-of-date.

NHS Choices programme director Gary Ashby said: ‘It is essential that data on the website is accurate. We know from our research that in some instances this is not currently the case.'

A Pulse spot-check survey in July last year found up to two-thirds of entries contained mistakes.
