NHS

The National Health Service is the name for three of the four UK's publicly funded healthcare system. The NHS was formed on July 5, 1948, by then Health Secretary Aneurin Bevan. The basic principles that underpin the NHS is that it's universal, funded from taxation and is free at the point of need. But some doctors now claim that this does not work as the state cannot afford to fund drugs and procedures. In July 2010 the Government published The white paper, Equity and excellence: liberating the NHS, detailing the most significant reorganisation of the NHS in its history. NHS Choices is the official website for England's NHS.
