NICE dyspepsia guidance puts patients' lives at risk

The cost of fighting medical negligence claims is rocketing by 13 per cent every year, the Medical Defence Union has revealed.

The MDU said it dealt with three cases involving £1-million plus payouts last year, including one worth £3.6 million.

The cost of the 10 highest claims totalled £10.7 million, compared with just £3.6 million in 1995.
