Our right to high standards of proof

Dr Colin M Clark, Lanarkshire

Doctors have a right to justice too.

We expect the standards we have to work by to be of the highest calibre.

We also expect the standards of proof of negligence to be of

the highest calibre possible.

Defensive medicine could destroy the NHS

and the whole ethos of trust and professionalism.

To consider removing a doctor's livelihood on

the standard of proof

based on balance of probabilities would make many think twice about

a career in medicine in

the UK.

Stand by for a stampede to foreign lands.
