Patient groups to help run general practice

Patient Participation Groups are being offered the chance to bid for a share of a new fund to give them a greater say in the running of general practice.

The Making a Difference fund, a joint initiative by the National Association for Patient Participation, the BMA, the RCGP and the NHS Alliance, is offering patients a chance to bid for financial support to help run local initiatives.

The groups can bid for up to £4,000 of the £20,000 available, to fund new initiatives or support existing activities, such as health promotion events, researching the views of patients, and fundraising to improve services.

All bids will be judged by a panel including the National Association for Patient Participation, PCT, PPG, GP and Practice Manager representatives.
