GPs buried under trusts' workload dump

PBC is 'Trojan horse' to privatisation of the NHS, unions told

Dr Helen Groom has told trade union activists that practice-based commissioning could be the 'Trojan horse' to NHS privatisation.

Addressing a fringe meeting at the TUC annual conference in Brighton, Dr Groom said practice-based commissioning consortiums were being approached 'fast and furiously' by private firms.

The companies were offering data analysis and management services, she said.

Dr Groom said this was putting them in a position where they could indirectly seize control of commissioning budgets.

She said: 'There is a slow, covert creep of the private sector, which must be checked.'
