Phil notches up a second award

Pulse columnist Dr Phil Peverley is now a double award winner, after picking up the columnist of the year prize at the prestigious Press Gazette Magazine Journalism Awards.

Phil beat off challenges from food writer Nigel Slater and political heavyweights Simon Kelner of GQ, and Peter Wilby of the New Statesman.

Judges praised Phil's 'energy, wit and hard truths so consistently produced'.

The judges also acclaimed 'the power of the content enhanced by quick, crisp turns of phrase. The subject matter was rarely easy, always readable and left the audience keen for more.'

Phil also won the Press and Periodical Association's columnist of the year award in May.
