PMS GP hedges her bets

Dr Veena Agarwal is planning to remain a PMS GP for a year before switching to the new GMS contract.

Dr Agarwal, a singlehanded GP in south-east London, said she had been swayed by promises of a reduction in paperwork and supported the quality framework, but wanted to adopt a wait-and-see approach before committing to a return to GMS.

'What I will do is stay in PMS for one year and in the meantime I will be happy to gear myself towards the quality framework,' she said. 'During that year I will know what is happening to colleagues. By then I'll really know what's on offer.'
