PMS GPs left in limbo

PMS GPs have lashed out at the Government for keeping them in the dark over how they are affected by the new GMS contract.

The GPC has also accused the Department of Health of 'dragging its heels' and said it has been making daily approaches to arrange a meeting with ministers over the issue.

Key issues include whether PMS GPs can access the quality framework and receive preparation money and whether growth money will be carried across if they switch back to GMS.

Dr Paul Cundy, GPC member and a PMS GP in Wimbledon, south London, said he was 'extremely frustrated'. He added: 'It shows the department was completely taken by surprise at the strength of support for the GMS contract.'
