PMS quality penalty

PMS practices will have up to 230 points deducted from their quality score but will earn the same per point as GMS GPs.

GPC joint-deputy chair Dr Hamish Meldrum said reducing the £75 per point to account for the money PMS GPs already get would discriminate against small practices. He was 'more than 90 per cent' confident equity would be achieved by a deduction of points. 'The fairest system is to have a threshold,' he said.

Dr Peter Smith, chair of the National Association of Primary Care, which has been working on the PMS guidance, said he would 'not be surprised' if the amount deducted was between 180 and 230 points.
