Practice nurses must earn their pay rises

It's untrue that GPs are exploiting practice nurses. We have had a practice nurse working with us for 12 years. We pay her at F grade, the highest rate.

She is asking us to upgrade her to G. We did not know the job description and responsibility of an F-grade nurse and when we asked the PCT we found she does only one quarter of the job description of an F-grade nurse.

When she filled in the F-grade questionnaire, she herself was worried and asked the practice manager whether she would be downgraded. The practice nurse is not involved with the QOF. Only our practice manager and admin staff are responsible for QOF points.
