Primary care tsar moves to calm fear on super-surgeries

Dr Andy Paton got one of the biggest rounds of applause of the LMCs conference after he appropriated the famous 'Choose Life...' speech from the film Trainspotting in his attack on Choose and Book.

Dr Paton said his practice in Torbay, Devon, was supposed to be a pilot site for Choose and Book.

But his smart card to access the e-booking system won't work at his branch practice.

'Choose life, choose a job, choose a family, choose a CD player...Choose and Book. I certainly did not choose Choose and Book,' he said. 'This scheme sucks.'
