Private surgery deals attacked

Councillors in North London are to write to the health secretary to express their concern at Camden PCT's handling of the award of three GP practices to US healthcare-giant United Health.

Liberal Democrat Councillor David Abrahams, chairman of the local Health Scrutiny Committee, said the possibility of the contracts going to a ‘new type of private provider' had not been made clear during early stages of consultation, and claimed patients had not been adequately consulted.
