GPs buried under trusts' workload dump

Proud of our Practice: Hard but enjoyable two years

Dr Jonathan White and Dr John Holden are so proud of their practice they gave us a list of 32 achievements since they took over their surgery two years ago.

Dr White (left), a salaried GP, and Dr Holden, senior partner, have built up a list of 2,700 patients at the ex PCT-run practice in Wigan and taken on some services previously provided in secondary care.

The GPs' list included INR monitoring, phlebotomy, spirometry, and minor surgery. They have also hit higher cervical smear and childhood vaccination targets and got 1,045 QOF points.

Dr White said: 'It's been hard work, but very enjoyable. Our vision would be to try to get more out of the hospital setting and into primary care.'

Dr White said their success was proof that small practices could follow the Government's agenda.
