Proud of our Practice: Lifting mood at a sad time for patients

The long waits for bereavement support services being endured by the Bowburn Medical Practice's patients spurred practice manager Wendy Graham to train as a counsellor herself.

Backed by the practice, Ms Graham did a year's worth of training courses, which has enabled her to set up a bereavement support group.

The fortnightly group at

the practice in Durham has grown from one member to 15.

Dr William Pollard, a GP at the practice, said the group was extremely popular and had been supported by other local residents.

He said: 'We're really proud of the positive effect it's had on our patients who have needed

our help.'

Ms Graham added: 'It's been such a success that members of the group have even started going on holiday together.'
