Proud of our Practice: patients get behind their practice

Patients at St Thomas's Surgery in Haverfordwest are so proud of their practice that they wrote to Pulse unbeknown to their GPs.

They say their GPs' enthusiasm for the practice's patient participation group which they believe is the only one in Pembrokeshire compelled them to nominate the surgery.

Representatives from the

local health board, community health council and pressure groups all attend the quarterly meetings.

Roy Folland, chair of the group, said: 'The staff are genuinely interested in what we have to say and everyone works together, without moaning, to improve services.'

Dr Roger Burns, senior partner at the surgery (pictured foreground), said: 'We work very closely with the group in sharing new ideas. We're proud that we're open and honest with them about the problems of the NHS and they respect us for that.'
