Antihypertensive prescribing Thiazide diuretics prescribed in the elderly treble the likelihood of a fall in the first month of exposure, suggested a UK general practice study published this week. Many medicines act differently in older patients and that issue- coupled with polypharmacy – prompted our recent CPD series on prescribing in older patients, which includes an article on antihypertensives.
