A controversial health minister unveils plans to group GPs together under a single roof, bringing a range of clinical services into the community.

Not Lord Darzi's polyclinic plans in 2008, but another man who is now a Lord, David Owen, announcing plans for a netwrok of health centres back in 1976. The new centres were designed to bring antenatal, prenatal and baby clinics into general practice. And they largely had the support of the profession, perhaps because they were to be sited according to need, and not arbitary Government targets.
