Learning objectives


This module will give a primary-care focused update on managing allergies, including issues such as:

  • Treating allergic rhinitis with antihistamines, intranasal steroid sprays and systemic decongestants
  • Testing for allergies in primary care, for example, using allergen skin prick testing
  • Managing patients with hard-to-treat hayfever, for example with saline nasal douching and prophylactic antihistamines
  • Identifying infants with cow's milk allergy

This module was first published on 3rd March 2010 and was up to date with all key guidelines and evidence at that point. It will be reviewed as part of our routine update cycle by 3rd March 2012 but will be updated sooner to reflect any key guideline changes.
