Quarter of GPs to quit capital

One in four inner-London GPs will retire in the next five years, new research from the King's Fund has concluded.

Well over a third of the capital's GPs are over 50 and just one in five is under 40.

The report, In Capital Health?, also found that only 21 per cent of students who graduated from London medical schools in 1995 were still in the capital in 2002.
