Dr Avdullahu fled wartorn Kosovo, where she worked as a GP, with her children in 1999. She joined the London deanery clinical attachment scheme for refugee doctors last April to do GP training. 'I am grateful for what the Government and society has done for us,' she said during National Refugee Week last week. 'Now it's my role to give something back.'
