Registration drive at CQC is no crackdown

I talked at the Commons health committee about bringing GPs into registration, but I fail to see how this can be equated to a crackdown ('Regulator chief promises crackdown on GPs').

There is a world of difference between a 'crackdown', which suggests a heavy-handed short-term measure, and a registration system discussed and agreed with professions that is designed to assure the quality and safety of services.
