Reject contract if there's no room for patient choice

I hope GPC chair Dr John Chisholm is correct in his belief that the new contract will rejuvenate general practice.

I also hope it will take into account the position of GPs all over the country who are penalised by patients who choose, whether by informed or uninformed opinion, not to take vaccinations such as MMR.

Any contract that finanically penalises a doctor who has informed a patient of the pros and cons of a treatment is unacceptable. Doctors should not be penalised if a patient chooses to refuse a treatment we are not medical police.

If the new contract does not allow for patient choice it must be rejected.
