GPs struggle to cope with 21% rise in requests to verify work capability since January

Andrew is correct, you cannot charge for these forms. I work in one of the most deprived areas in Scotland and we get about 5 forms each partner per week! Most of our patients have never worked, will never work and generations here have never worked. Each form has long lists of requests for info on "depression, chronic backpain, drug and alcohol abuse" . If we were to do these properly we would never see any patients. I am aware that we have a "contractual agreement" but I also have a contractual agreement to actually see patients! We decided at the practice that we would fill the in the forms for out patients that could "genuinely not work" and file the other forms in our "to do pile" along with all the other non doctor stuff we somehow all get dumped on us. Clearly we never get to this pile as we're actually seeing real live patients, or at least trying to!
