GPs should police out-of-hours care for the elderly, suggests expert group

"The responsible GP would be responsible for making sure the out-of-hours services are of sufficient quality and access through talking to the providers, as they have some influence." And if they' don't have sufficient quality, what then? Do we have to do the on-call ourselves or have to take the blame when the service provider balls up? Thanks a million Clare/RCGP for first suggesting this nonsense! It's only a matter of time until the government of either colour makes us take all the OOH responsibility for ALL patients because "the evidence" will have shown that this system worked so well for the vulnerable elderly patients.
