Analysis: GPs take the strain of ‘Austerity Britain’

(1) So whose fault is this all down to? Carry on blaming the financial crisis which was unprecedented in history? The government just blindly carries on with cuts and austerity , waves after waves.Where is the mandate from people? (2) Obsession with rise in GDP and 'full employment '(Bearing in G.O. dared not define exactly what he meant). Yes , the generic figure of unemployment has gone down a lot but nobody dares to talk about poverty at work and of course, the young people with no job . Are people generally happy? Remember the Five Giant Evils- Squalor , Ignorance , Idleness , Want and Disease. People go to food bank because most of them really have no choice rather than wanting to be lazy and dependent. Many of them even have a job! (3) The rise in GDP in fact relies on the mercy of big enterprises and companies in private sector . Typical right winged government will have all policies to help them make profit more easily. The rise in energy cost is a very good example . If it is not the general election is looming and everybody is criticising how ridiculously expensive these essential commodities have become, the government would never do anything to even scratch the surface. (4)One can argue William Beveridge's welfare state ideology is 'out of fashion' in 21st century but a caring and accommodating society is still about better distribution of wealth and looking after the weak minority i.e. practising benevolence . (5) But I am afraid this government will never achieve that because it is a government of the GDP , for the GDP and by the GDP.....
