Dr Chaand Nagpaul: ‘The goodwill of GPs is being exploited’

To ordinary GPs, it would appear that it is the GPC itself that is allowing this exploitation by not standing up a little straighter and sometimes lying completely supine. Why does the GPC not seek the view of all GPs in a clear cut ballot as to further action in saying NO to all the extra work and/ or resigning from this NHS where funding goes down and the workload goes up year on year. Chand, as long as this continues, GPs will just continue to leave and sufficient new recruits will not join. Begging for more funding is not going to cut any ice anywhere, you are wasting your breath. If you do nothing, Chand, you will see this profession reach a tipping point where the exodus becomes irreversible and everyone will get dumped in the pond. How can it be right that doctors after 10-12 years of study are going bankrupt still seeing 40+ patients a day.? The system is broken and if YOU cannot fix it, Chand but instead watch 60+ practices go under, then it will be obvious to all, that GP land is not somewhere anyone sensible would want to be.
