Practice closures set to widen GP privatisation

Would you prefer a system where GPs join their practices and stay for 30 years, serving their community or one where GPs come and go, staying for an average of 5 years, the length of an APMS contract ? Which GP is likely to give the most to their community ? Who is likely to treat patients as they would their own family ? It is human nature to go the extra mile for people you know very well. I know my patients very well. I often know their extended families, and it gives you an insight in what is going on in their lives. Traditional general practice is a jewel beyond price. The Government is preparing to throw it away.
