Medical students unlikely to repay student debts during working life


I can understand the debt putting students off, especially if 1/2 of them was to become GP - it will take a full year of work as full time partner just to repay the debt. Having said that, not sure how they can't pay it back. I did 24 hours oncall when I was a houseman and in my first year alone I "saved" 30k+. We didn't have to pay accommodation/utilities, food was mainly cheap hospital canteen food and I went almost no where as I was working constantly. So my expenditure in the year was next to nothing......
