Patients hit by practice closures: the thousands who have had to find a new GP

Unforunately these numbers show only half the story. In my health board alone, although although there have been no practices 'closing', there have been five practices (previously responsible for over 20 thousand patients) that have been taken over by the board due to the recruitment crisis and all remaining partners leaving due to exhaustion. These 'board-run' practices are, unsurprisingly, still struggling to find GPs. Patients are being let down and neighbouring practices placed in high risk of being further swamped.
