Hunt has 'no problem' with charging for missed GP appointments

Received a medication request from a pharmacy today. No problems and nothing unusual except ......the patient had died two months ago! Sounds familiar? We need to have proper systems in place to prevent wastage and not have people coming in with a carton saying 'Father was in hosp for 3 months and pharmacy kept dropping in meds through letter box- so here's a hamper for you doc' Check repeat prescribing mechanisms- get a proper flow of information from the Registrar's office to pharmacies; from hospitals and other healthcare institutions and make people pay a penny for their medication so that they think about medication costs. Writing the cost is ok but not enough. And for DNAs there must be a charge or people can be shameless and miss morning appointment and ask for same day noon appointment reserved for emergencies.
