Austerity and what it means for practices


There isn't £10bn of savings in stopping GPs from prescribing antibiotics (along with other efficiencies). The savings come from taking more risks, ie what GPs used to be good at until any error was unacceptable. We have to have a model of care that is good enough and free at the point of need, rather than want. I am not against some payments if it reduces demand while protecting the vulnerable. That's a challenge!
