Niall Dickson: ‘We want doctors to feel protected’

Comment

"remembering that most of these doctors enter our procedures already having had very serious mental health and addiction problems, and many have had suicidal ideation" Really?!! What do you have to say to this crap. What about the majority of patients who complaint?!! no problems there I gather. A doctor and his family have to go through hell - at the end of which most of the time - the matteer is simply closed if nothing is found. But the person is scarred for life. how do you compensate for that? If a doctor HAS made a mistake, he can loose his career and potentially his life but if a patient is found to have made malicious complaint -which is finally not upheld - what does the GMC or Goverment do to penalise him/her? Nothing!! that is why the doctors will keep on leaving the profession and dying. Wake up you in the Ivory towers!!
