'Everyone wants more money – but we have to be realistic'

I would take issue with this part of the responses made by Dr Jackson - "Individual GPs and practices may well have anecdotal issues with certain CCGs but they need to remember that as GPs, [they] are members of the CCG… and should be helping to shape the way the CCG thinks. Unfortunately, some of our colleagues don’t always remember that they have that role" Being members of the CCG wasn't something we asked for, it was forced upon us by a change in Govt, we have little influence and don't want that "role" that we didn't ask for. It's mostly an illusion and not real, and the next change of Minister or Govt could take it all away again anyway. Those of you GPs who are ever so keen to not be GPs and to be managers and politicians instead are always convinced that you are right and that the majority should be sharing your enthusiasm for your medico-political hobby. Well we don't! Please don't blame us for ignoring something we didn't want in the first place, which merely wastes time we don't have to spare, and which can all be undone at the whim of the next Sec'y of State.
