How should GPs respond to backdated property service charges?

It is not only back dated service charges - it is the massive increase that practices are being hit with. Quadrupling service charges, which are not reclaimable, is simply a huge pay cut for GPs at a time when there is a recruitment and retention crisis. If the rents were increased, this would be reclaimable but clearly NHSE would have to pay that. This is for many practices will be a huge hit and drive many under. I am lucky in that we have a PFI building and have our own service team and have paid market rate for years. Some of my colleagues are seeing rises of £100,000 for small patient populations - if it happened to me, I would simply retire but many are not able to.
