GPs hit with 800 groundless complaints to the GMC over prescribing

"Complainants have nothing to lose from complaining, whereas even the most trivial nonsensical complaint causes both emotional and financial distress to the recipient. We need a more equal system, perhaps with costs paid by the complainant when a complaint is found to have no merit." Completely agree on this. I received a complaint to the GMC (made by someone UNKNOWN to me directly online). Complaint had NO merit (practically false allegations). It was dismissed as soon as reviewed by colleagues (though it took 3 months for this to happen). Now, anytime I am applying for posts, I need to declare that "I have been subject to investigation from the GMC", FOREVER. Where is fairness here??
