Can I allow access to a deceased patient’s notes?

I am just a bit baffled why this is causing anyone brain ache let alone spending time dealing with it. The patient dies. The powers that be are informed, usually via the clinical system, and the patient is deducted from your system, the notes being returned speedily to whatever agency is currently dealing with the storage of notes. The request for the notes is made to, and the decision needs to be made by, that agency or their appointed doctor. DO NOT fall into the trap of them asking and you agreeing to deal with it. It is not your responsibility. Might seem a bit hard nosed but it is legal practical and reduces workload.
