Can I allow access to a deceased patient’s notes?

Sorry to add to all this complexity and I've read the comments above about 'the records going back to NHS England' etc - but isn't it the case that the patient's electronic records (which after all are 99.9% of the record now) will remain on a practice's computer system permanently. I'm not sure that the return of the paper records after death alters this fact much. The owner of the computer system (the partnership) would appear to thus be permanently stuck with custody of the main part of the deceased's records.
