Should GPs embrace e-consultations?

Comment

I understand the concerns of Dr Cornish. However if the 'e-consult' system is able to present the GP with answers to questions they would have asked anyway in order to diagnose the patients problem, and is used as input to a telephone call from the GP to the patient, it can significantly reduce the number of face to face appointments required by patients. Typically GPs tell me around 70% of the appointments made with them are not necessary and the "e consult" triage approach (as promoted by WebGP and GP Access amongst others) has been proven to deal with that problem
