Only five 'golden hellos' offered across north of Scotland

we should not be offering golden handshakes ! as many public commentators on the major newspapers have said that doctors should be doctors because they want to serve the public and they shouldn't be doing it for the money but for the love of the job. offering incentives sets a terrible example. 20k is what some people earn in a year. what we need to do is drive standards up, charge students the full course of their education, move to 7 day working (people get ill on the weekend and lot's of people have to work on the weekend), reduce expensive locum and GP fees (all suggestions that have been mentioned in the papers) and see what happens then. i'm sure it will work out right. once those plans are in place watch as recruitment rises.
