GP social prescribing can reduce appointments 'by over one fifth'


But GPs already spend a lot of time signposting patients to appropriate other services, such as those listed above. I find a lot of the other services have found they can reduce demand (and their costs of service provision) by telling patients they can only be seen if they get a referral from a GP, which increases inappropriate burden on GP services, and puts off a number of patients from persuing the need further - IE it harms patient social care.
