Flagship NHS diabetes scheme under scrutiny

Comment

Researchers love their 88% reduction figures, but is this a RRR or ARR reduction? And noting the faulty goalposts of poor sensitivity and specificity of blood glucose and HbA1c in detecting diabetes, it cannot be certain that the extrapolation can be made of an effective prevention programme. Old papers from London stated that there was a slow/very slow progression from prediabetes to diabetes, so therefore would it be true to say that the prevention programme just detected this by intensive monitoring. Final results will be interesting.
