Learning the hard way – how a homeless patient made me confront the limits of a GP

AnonGP1. I think you'll find you do. There are a lot of people sofa surfing, or sleeping in their car, too low priority to make it onto a local authority waiting lists - typically a man who has lost a job or whose marriage has broken up leaving him cast out of the family home. These people are often too ashamed to talk about it. I had a patient who slept in a tent in the woods all summer after losing his job and ability to pay his rent.
