GP flu consultations increase by 78% in one week

I’m really interested to observe the absence of General Practice in main-stream reporting of the current NHS crisis. It’s like we don’t exist. They followed an ambulance crew on a report on Ch4 news this evening. Much was made of how busy these guys are, for me one part stood out, they had a call from 111 requesting an ambulance for someone who had ‘a terrible cough’ ..the paramedics scoffed and the reporer commented that this ‘should have been sorted by the family GP. It’s like the assumption is if only the bloody GPs would pull their weight the NHS wouldn’t be in such a mess. No one in that weird world of the media and television has any understanding of quite how totally desolate General Practice has become. We are completely broken, starved of funds and absolutely ignored. The destruction of primary care is probably the root course of the current NHS melt down..but the idiots who report the news have no bloody idea.. it’s weird but they really collectively don’t know squat about the NHS
