NHS walk-in centre closes in favour of seven-day GP services

This extended access is a major problem for us all. It soaks up available GPs who would otherwise be able to fill slots with the emergency OOH service. Our local extended access is paying £160 an hour so ramping up the costs of locums to local practices and undermining the fees that OOH pay. It only offers prebookable appointments so no emergencies and will NOT help with the pressure on A&E. It is a pet project of Mr Hunt and probably his achilles heel. It needs to be flagged up nationally what a stupid idea it is and how much damage it will cause...
