Health secretary 'deeply concerned' about implications of GMC court ruling

Comment

I have read this case in detail. It could have happened to me, no matter how caring or how good I was. I cannot cover for absent colleagues and do the work of three doctors at any time as Dr Barwa was doing. The reason there are three doctors is because the workload is such, perhaps even four doctors are needed. I cannot work without lab results and failed computer systems. 2 GPs were taken up for manslaughter recently for failure to visit [ when they were doing clinics already ] we cannot be in 2 places at the same time. A doctor in belfast was taken up for manslaughter [ she had done 105 hours of duty]. I am so utterly glad my 2 children have not done medicine [ you do 80 hours + of continuous sleepless work of 3 doctors and get charged for manslaughter]. Career officers must advise aspiring doctors of this utter horror.
