Retired GP cleared of attempt to hire hitman to kill pensions adviser

Does anyone have any idea, how could he have lost 300 K of money in penalties for not meeting deadlines ? I know his pot was 1.8 m but what on earth was the advice and what did he delay to incur such a massive blow from tax office. One has to feel for him...poor bloke..feel for him and his family. My judgement is neither the GP nor the financial advisor is guilty - if there is any guilty party it is HMRC !!!!
