‘Profit-sharing’ schemes to encourage GP referral cuts still in place

Medway has made a mockery of the e referral system by limiting patient and GP choice for musculoskeletal ailments. You can only refer to the MSK Triage Service who are 'contracted' to make savings by deciding to which Provider or speciality the referral needs to be forwarded. For every referral this private service is paid - so how much savings does referral management make? GPs can't refer to ortho/rheumatology/ physiotherapy even if they have certainty that it is a rheumatology or orthopaedic condition requiring specialist input. Other physio/osteopathy providers are experiencing a drop in referrals channelled through the Community Healthcare ltd channels as they seem to have no connections.
