Overdiagnosis: how ministers and the NHS are fuelling a rising epidemic

On the subject of AF: There is a good Head to Head Yes versus No article on BMJ : 16/2/2019 ‘ Should we screen for atrial fibrillation?’ We should be collectively catious in terms of critically appraising published evidence. The interpretation, selection criteria , choice of statistical methods, follow-up periods etc can all be potentially ‘manipulated.’ While I do not believe drug companies making statin is the culprit driving the lower threshold of CVD risk for commencement ( statin is cheap now) , the story of NOAC ( novel oral anticoagulants) ,however , does raise the eyebrow on the profits generated if AF is to be screened more universally.
