I thought I had a great GP until, eight years later, I fell seriously ill and realised he didn't know what he was doing. I have been damaged by his inadequacy and reliance on antipsychotics, antidepressants and his diagnosis of a 'functional somatoform disorder'. Since being formally diagnosed with a serious life long condition two years ago, he has only communicated with me telephonically via a colleague, and I am left to manage my illness with the assistant of my consultant (who has been supportive beyond his remit). I would have given him 10/10 in those eight years... now he gets zero! Worryingly, his colleagues/ Partners are no better. I cannot see how a 'patients survey' will be of any help in weeding out these kinds of GPs!
